28 Ways to Show the Love: Relieve Me During the Holiday Celebration

Each day in February, we’ll share a way that family members and friends can help the family caregiver in their lives. (A family caregiver is an individual who cares for a family member or friend, just like you.) Through our campaign, we hope to create awareness of what family caregivers do and how others can help.

Today’s tip comes from me; I help my parents and an aunt: Give me a break during a holiday celebration by attending to our caree.

Why this tip is important: When the family gathers for a holiday celebration, I'm still working as a family caregiver. You can give me a holiday simply by stepping in when we're all together by taking over. You can serve our caree, keep our caree company and engaged, make sure our caree gets to the bathroom and receives the care that's needed. When I can sit and visit, I get a break. And, I love to receive a break on a holiday, even if only for an hour or so.
