29 Ways to Show the Love: Call to Check In

(A family caregiver is an individual who cares for a family member or friend, just like you.) Through our campaign, we hope to create awareness of what family caregivers do and how others can help.

This tip comes from me and I care for my parents: Call the family caregiver on a regular basis to find out how he or she is doing. Listen with an open heart and a non-judgmental ear. You don’t have to solve the problems -- just listening is the best help you can offer.

Why this tip is important: We often have so much happen in our day that we don't have time to reach out to our friends and family members we love. When you call us, it's like, Phew! You give us a chance to catch our breath, to feel the love and to connect with the world outside of caregiving. When you listen to how we're doing, you give us a chance to push our reset button. We just need a chance to let it out so we can keep going.
