29 Ways to Show the Love: Support the Family Caregiver's Hobbies

(A family caregiver is an individual who cares for a family member or friend, just like you.) Through our campaign, we hope to create awareness of what family caregivers do and how others can help.

Today’s tip comes from Lillie (@lillie), who cares for her mom and cared for her father and grandparents: Buy supplies for the family caregiver's hobbies.

Why this tip is important: It's so hard to get everything done! Supplies for hobbies falls way down on the priority list because, well, it doesn't feel as necessary as the other tasks and responsibilities. Family caregivers can also feel lost to caregiving, which just seems to swallow them up. When you keep the supplies stocked for what the family caregivers love to do, you ensure they stay connected to just that--what they love to do. You also help the remember who they are. You remind family caregivers that their hobbies are important, that they can take time away from caregiving and that they matter, too.

Maybe you're just buying supplies. But you're truly lifting spirits.
