(Editor’s Note: We’ve asked current and former members and visitors to share their stories of how Caregiving.com has helped. Today, we share a story from Jane (@jbones1961), who cares for her daughter.)

Jane_and_NicoleI became a member of caregiving.com in March 2011. My daughter, Nicole had been diagnosed in 2010 at age 15 with two congenital heart defects that because they weren't diagnosed had caused Eisenemenger Syndrome (reverse shunting of the heart) and pulmonary arterial hypertension which is narrowing of the arteries within the lungs causing the pressures within the lungs to build up. There is no cure for any of these. The pulmonary hypertension is the most threatening as it is progressive. Her lungs will continue to weaken.

I don't remember what lead up to me hearing a interview or show which Denise did and she mentioned caregiving.com so I signed up. About a month or so after I joined I was awarded the caregifters award. I used the money to get a pharmacy technician degree if for no other reason than to be more knowledge about medications etc. While I don't work in this field I am grateful that I was able to take the course.

I volunteer and help as much as I can. I wouldn't have made it through the last three years with this site and more importantly Denise and the other members who I have become friends with.

I hope that caregiving.com has many, many more birthdays. It is a wonderful community for caregivers.
