A Caregiving Comfort: In

Denise
If you could be in with a good book and your own quiet space, that would be one thing.

But you're in because of your caree's confusion or incontinence or decline or bad day. And, you feel guilty about not wanting to be in so you're also in with guilt.

How do you get out?

Maybe today doesn't feel like a day that will lead you out. If today's the day you stay in, do what you can to make the inside worth it. Take a nap when your caree does. Watch a favorite movie. Give yourself a break from resenting what is. Write thank-you notes to those who support you (even if you only write two letters -- one to God and one to your dog). Start a project you've been putting off. Clear out a cluttered drawer. List your gratitudes. Doodle about your dreams which helps you feel them which helps turn them into your reality.

Today may be imperfect. It's also the day you have. Use it to bring in better. Your tomorrow will thank you.
