A Positive Caregiving Moment in Video

0
This is a video of my mother-in-law and P. I love this video because it shows what a patient, loving caregiver P was to his mom. My mother-in-law had a teddy bear that she frequently "fed" and gave "sips" of her drinks. When we were smart we would take Teddy away before giving her food or drink.

This was probably a few months before my mother-in-law's death. She wasn't very interested in drinking her protein shake, only giving it to Teddy. P intervened and tried to get her to share. She literally is pushing the straw to Teddy's mouth.

This always makes me smile. I need all the smiles I can get these days. (Background noise is the TV.)

DUH ;-) I have just seen the area which I can use to send the video through to my email address so that's sorted - just want to know if you are happy for that lovely vignette of a son so lovingly feeding his mom - are you happy for it to be shown on the South African site?\nColette xoxo

Hi Jean..... I also belong to a small online dementia group locally and I was wondering if you would mind if I would post this video there? We often chat about that super group of family members who do not walk out the door but take loving care of their caree's until they pass away. I find this so delightful, I would just love to post it there and if you don't have any objection - I will privately send my email to you and maybe you can send it there for me? If for whatever reason you are not keen about this, *no* problem what so ever! Sorry I am not a whizz kid on the computer so don't know if it's possible for me to mail this charming video straight from this site to my email....\n\nColette xoxo

Oh Jean! How incredible to have such a loving and caring son which your husband obviously is. It was such a joyful video to watch and I have taken a look at it a few times over. P - you are a prince amongst men :-)

Thanks for sharing that video, Jean. I could relate to that moment clearly. Such a balance between frailty and fierce determination for your mother-in-law. The human condition is confounding. And seeing P laugh (did I see him glance at his watch? wonderful), bless his heart.
