After The Diagnosis: How Did You Talk to Your Children?

This afternoon on Your Caregiving Journey, @g-j joined me our monthly "Sandwich Shop" chat. Today, we discussed how to talk to your children about a family member's diagnosis. You can listen to our show via the player below.

G-J shared how she and her husband, Steve, spoke with their son, Robert, after Steve's diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment. In G-J's situation, the diagnosis caused more changes for their family; Steve could no longer work and also battled depression. She shared information with her son without sharing too much information. She ensured his routine stayed the same and kept the lines of communication open so he felt comfortable asking if he had questions.

I'd love to know: How did you talk to your children (or grandchildren) after a family member's diagnosis? Please share your thoughts and experiences in our comments section below.
