At Check-Out: "Would You Like to Donate to the National Caregiving Respite Fund?"

Denise
I wrote the other day about an idea I had to fund a national respite program by allowing everyone who files an income tax to select that they want $3 of their federal tax to go to a national respite program.

I followed up that idea with a suggestion that pharmaceutical companies donate a percentage of revenue toward a national respite program.

Babs, who cares for her mother, shared another idea:

What if when we check-out at grocery and drug stores we had the opportunity to contribute to a national caregiving respite program? We could donate $1 or $5 or any amount we chose. We could encourage others to do the same by sharing how important a break can be, especially while standing in line.

Wouldn't that be a wonderful way to help those who care take a break, manage a crisis, get extra help during a particularly intense time, receive a scholarship to attend the National Caregiving Conference?
