Before Our Virtual Visit, A Live Lunch

Teresa Teresa and I.

Before our live visit to see @Kathy this afternoon, I enjoyed a lunch with Teresa (@tstallone), who lives about 20 minutes from me. We needed the Internet, though, to introduce us.

I picked Teresa up at 11:30 this morning and we headed to a local spot for sandwiches. Teresa shared her stories of caring for her grandmother and her mother. She also spoke of her frustrations in trying to get the right help for her mother and for herself.

Teresa talked about how hard it is to watch family members decline because of a disease process. She loves her grandmother and her mom and wants their lives to be the best possible. She also wants a good life for herself, so continues to pursue her college degree.

I left Teresa with some SWAG: A t-shirt, reusable bag, "I CAN" wristband and pens.

If you reside in Chicago or find yourself passing through, like Kathy last September, please send me a note. I'd love to meet you!

Love the photo! And I agree wholeheartedly with Teresa!\r\nI feel comfortable and cared about here, too; this place is truly an online home.

It was a great pleasure to not only meet you Denise, but also, to have an understanding and gracious ear. Thank you for a delightful lunch, the goodies and conversation! \r\n\r\nAsking good questions while listening and giving validation to one's life experiences goes a long way. After many meetings within the past three years, this was most exciting for me. I felt very comfortable as if I were sitting with an old friend. I also felt cared about, which is the most important in my book. I hope we can meet again. It felt good to be out of the apartment and with someone who has much knowledge to share. \r\n\r\nYou are an unique woman, Denise. Thank you!
