10 Reasons Why Helping a Family Caregiver Attend NCC19 Will Be the Best Thing You Do This Year

(Editor’s Note: On a regular basis, we do our best to get as much help as possible for family caregivers, those individuals who care for a family member or friend. We hope this article encourages others to get involved. You can help, too, by sharing this article across your social networks.)

In the past, I've written about ways to make your day and weekend better by helping the family caregiver in your life.

I've got a wonderful way to make your year.

It's a fairly easy and awesome way that makes your year memorable while making a family caregiver feel cherished.

Most likely you know a family caregiver. The family caregiver in your life could be your parent who cares for a grandparent, your sibling who cares for a spouse, your friend who cares for her child.

According to 2013 research by Pew Research Center, two out of our every five individuals care for a child or adult with serious health needs. According to our research, those in a caregiving experience feel stress almost every day. These family caregivers rate their stress as 4.14 on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the most stressed).

You can ease that stress. Help the family caregiver in your life attend our Fourth Annual National Caregiving Conference on November 7-10 either in Chicago or virtually. Our conference will take place at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare, 8535 W. Higgins. Our NCC19 virtual broadcast will happen in the comfort of the family caregiver's home.

Here's why helping a family caregiver or former family caregiver attend our conference will be the best thing you do this year:

1. We're working to make a caregiving experience easier, including an after-caregiving experience. Chances are, you'll either help another family member or receive care at some point in your life. When you help a family caregiver attend our conference, you're helping to make your own future better.

2. You'll be giving the best gift to someone who works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You'll give them the gift of being able to relax.

3. You'll be making a huge difference in the life of a family caregiver because you'll connect them to support and care.

4. You can rest easy in knowing you've just bought yourself a silver cloud in heaven. Your eternal life will be incredibly comfortable because of your earthly gift.

5. You've earned unending gratitude from someone who truly knows how to appreciate your kindness.

6. Your encouragement that the family caregiver in your life attend the conference gives that family caregiver the courage to attend.

7. You make it possible for us to create a movement to help any and all family caregivers and former family caregivers find the help and support they need. Maybe you only send one family caregiver but you create the possibility of helping so many more family caregivers.

8. Your support builds support which makes your support contagious. You help one but your support spreads across to reach many.

9. Your ability to provide a break changes that family caregiver's perspective. And, a changed perspective means a changed life.

10. Sometimes, our world can feel stingy. Your generosity reminds us that the world gives and gives in wonderful, caring ways.

Tell the family caregiver in your life you'd like to make it possible for them to attend our conference either in Chicago or virtually. And, then help them make it possible.
