Call for Presentations: 1st Annual National Caregiving Conference

mic-1132528_640Our 1st Annual National Caregiving Conference will take place December 3 in Chicago at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare, conveniently located minutes from O’Hare and a subway ride from downtown Chicago. We'd love for you to submit a proposal to present at the conference.

The goal of our conference is to connect attendees with support and solutions; empower attendees with insights and information; and entertain attendees with engaging and enlightening presentations. We also want to spark important conversations about what we need as family caregivers and former family caregivers in our communities, our workplaces and our health care system.

Our conference will feature three separate session tracts:

  • Family Caregivers: Sessions will speak to the experience of caring for a family member;

  • Former Family Caregivers: Sessions will help attendees enter the next phase of their lives.

  • Professionals Working With Family Caregivers: Sessions will help those who work with family caregivers, either through their own business or in an agency or organization. Sessions will offer insights into the caregiving experience which will help attendees work well with family caregivers. Sessions also will share marketing techniques to help reach family caregivers.

Please feel free to submit a proposal to present via our form, below. I’m organizing a few round-table presentations for all three tracts, including:

  • Help -- How to Get It, How to Receive It (Family Caregiver Tract)

  • Coping with Difficult Days (Family Caregiver Tract)

  • Preparing for the Future (Family Caregiver Tract)

  • Coping with Grief (Former Family Caregiver Tract)

  • Managing the Holidays (Former Family Caregiver Tract)

  • Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone (Former Family Caregiver Tract)

  • Marketing Ideas (Professionals Who Work with Family Caregivers)

  • Creating Products and Services Family Caregivers Use (Professionals Who Work With Family Caregivers)

  • What Family Caregivers Want From Us (Professionals Who Work with Family Caregivers)

If you’d like to join a round-table, just indicate that in our submission form.

What’s a good presentation? We’re looking to you to share simple solutions that make a big difference or demonstrate helpful techniques and tools that will make a day easier. Here's what you need to know before submitting a proposal:

  • Presenters and round-table participants in our Family Caregiver and Former Family Caregivers tract must currently care or have previously cared for a family member or friend.

  • Submissions also must include a link to a webinar or a podcast you've led or participated in. If you haven't participated in a webinar or podcast, you can include a link to a short video you create which tells us about your caregiving experience and your presentation or your desire to participate in a round-table discussion.

  • Individual conference presentations will be 20 minutes in length. Our round-table discussions will last 45 minutes.

  • If you are chosen to present, you are responsible for paying for your travel and hotel expenses. We do not have a budget to reimburse speakers for their expenses or to provide any speaking fees.

  • Those chosen to present will be featured in our National Caregiving Conference Hub beginning on August 10. We'll also promote sessions and speakers on and across our social media. Presenters will be included in our conference guide.

Deadline to submit a presentation proposal is July 26. We’ll let you know on August 3 if we select your proposal or if you will participate in a round-table discussion.

You also can sponsor or exhibit at our 1st National Caregiving Conference.

Be sure to save the date – our conference will happen December 3, 2016. Registration opens for attendees on September 1.
