Caregiving Dance: One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

Caregiving Dance: One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

asphalt-315756_640Things were going so well, until they weren't.

Isn't that the way it goes it seems?

Mike has been having a great few months other than one infection that was quickly resolved. We were able to go for walks at night with Fred (the dog) and we even invested in a peddle bike for him to join me on short rides.

Then the nerve pain came roaring back like a terrible storm.

The last three weeks have been rough at night with neither of us getting sleep. Mike is in pain and I am trying to help him relax so he can at least get back to some form of sleep. The doctor prescribed him Celebrex to take with the Gabapentin to help with the new pain, but it doesn't seem to have done a thing. I feel helpless and he feels hopeless.

I hate that hole we seem to dance around then fall into. He's been doing everything right and then it comes to a screeching halt and I can't fix it.

Chris\r\nSo sorry your having this problem I do hope things start dancing better for you both.

Oh, Chris, I'm so sorry! It's a horrible dance, especially because no one tells you when the music changes or stops. It really sucks when you're doing so much right! \r\n\r\nI hope the beat changes back to the one where you both are in the right step. \r\n\r\nThanks so much for keeping us posted.
