Caregivingliving: Recreating What Used to Be

The holidays were always a special time for us.We blew whichever way the wind would take us. I remember the Christmas before the "illness" -- we put up two trees and marveled at the lights.

And so I can finally admit after two years: The holidays are really hard for me!!! He continues to smile and tells me each and every day " I love you" and for that I am eternally grateful.

And so it's time for a change, for creating new memories instead of wallowing in the old. A ruptured brain aneurysm has robbed him of about 20 years of memory. We have been together 14 years and so everything is new. Holiday plans include heading off to Williamsburg to start a new tradition and create new memories.

I have the feeling this is going to be an amazing holiday season.
