Changes

Chris
quotes_about_change_lifechangingquotes2I'll admit, I hate change. I'm okay with changing my clothes, changing my hair and even my diet, but if it's beyond my control... Well, I hate it.

Now that Mike has finally changed how he is caring for himself I'm not sure how to feel. Part of me is saying, FINALLY you get it, while another part of me feels lost. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy that he is trying to work with me and his care team and has taken the lead.

I think my issue is that over the last 11 years I have focused so much on his care that I'm not really sure what I should be doing now. Has anyone else felt lost when their caregiving journey changed? How did you deal with it?

Myself? Well, I decided on another change and painted the living room.

Oohhh.... I totally get this. He's kinda taking over your job which can feel like you've lost your job. \r\n\r\nIt is a huge change. And, when there's change, there's a transition, an adjustment. \r\n\r\nI wonder if it would help to simply sit with the changes for a bit, almost become an observer. As an observer, you can take note of the changes in a more detached way. \r\n\r\nYou will move into this change. It will take some time, but you will. And, no matter what, you remain as important to Mike and his health as ever.
