Difficult Times the Past Few Days

Dar
drop-of-water-401326_640It has been difficult the past few days  as Myron seems to be slipping and I have to be careful if I take him out. He is still losing weight and today put his jeans on backwards. I couldn't figure out how he got them buttoned until I realized he can put them on with out unbuttoning them so I will need to buy a smaller size. He walks constantly and doesn't really eat much.

The past two days he has started taking naps and seems to be swollen over both eyes so I will call the doctor to see what is going on. He still has some of his sense of humor but also seems lost sometimes. It is hard to watch someone you love get lost and there is nothing you can do but be there for them. I have to admit it breaks my heart but I look forward to spending time with him.

Tonight I took in pictures from one of our trips and he enjoyed looking at the pictures and knew most of the places and animals in the pictures. Other times we read some of the books we picked up in our travels and he still recognized most of the words. I think this helps relieve pass the time although he doesn't remember most of it the next time we read the book or look at the pictures.

The loneliness is hard on both of us. He can't understand why he has to stay there but doesn't really create a problem about staying he just wants me to stay there too. I usually sit with him for a few minutes once he goes to bed and then leave. I pray every day for help and guidance to make the right choices and to have patience to respond to him lovingly.

They tell me at the personal care home he waits for me both in the early afternoon and in the evening until I get there. His smile when he sees me still lights up my heart.

It is a constant struggle to figure out the nutrition. I think you are doing amazing with this--you're doing all you can. \r\n\r\nI so hope today was a good day for both of you.

Ah, these are difficult days. I'm so glad you shared them with you.\r\n\r\nHas the staff suggested any reasons why he's losing weight and any ways to help him at least maintain his current weight.\r\n\r\nYour last sentence--how he waits for you--just tugs at the heart strings. Love always knows. :) I hope his bright smile can stay with you, to add some light during the darkness.
