Five Days of Comfort: Groundhog Day

Five Days of Comfort: Groundhog Day

A caregiving life can feel like the movie, Groundhog Day. In it, Bill Murray repeats the same day (Groundhog Day) over and over and over until he gets it right.

When it gets it right, he wakes up on February 3 with the woman of his dreams.

You can think: Well, I'm getting this life right by doing all this good stuff. But, each day, including February 3, you wake up to, well, the same life.

You make the sacrifices, stay the course, provide the care. And, yet, the rewards of the good life seem elusive.

What if you don't need a February 3 to truly waken? What if, every day, you have the opportunity to wake up to a life of meaning?

Your reality is a life of purpose. You make a difference every day. When you wake up tomorrow and the next tomorrow and the tomorrow after that, you'll wake up into that life of meaning.

You've created your own starring role.

I'd love to know: What's most meaningful about your life?

The things that are most meaningful in my life are 1) that I have a deep and meaningful relationship with God, with family members and with a few friends, 2) I find happiness in helping others, listening to others, doing for others and 3) I am prayerful, trustworthy and loving
