Has a Doctor Asked About Your Caregiving Stress?

Denise
During Friday's video chat, I spoke about caregiving stress with three family caregivers: Tami, who cares for her son and her mom, Jane, who cares for her daughter, and Chris, who cared for his partner. During our discussion, I asked Jane and Tami if a doctor has ever asked how they're coping and managing given the intensity of their caregiving roles. They both answered, No. You can watch our discussion, below.

We're hoping to change that with our petition to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to track family caregiver stress just as they track other epidemics like the flu. We want to bring awareness to your needs. You can help! Cast a vote in our poll, below, tell us about your experiences in our comments section, below, and sign our petition.

Denise I have suffered from anxiety most of my life. I see a psychiatrist only twice a year now to check in and get my medication prescription. The last time I saw him and told him all I had going on he looked at me and said \"are you okay?\" He really meant it. I told him as long as I see progress in my plan I am okay but when things get bogged down I just keep on going. My next 6 month checkup is next week. I look back and feel proud of the progress I have made.
