Heads-Up About Our Chat

Denise
Thank you all so much for being here. Thank you all so much for being here.

I migrated the website to a new hosting provider on Sunday night. I moved us to a provider which has tools to make the site load faster, which has been a goal I've been working toward for the past year.

So, the site loads faster but a software I use to increase the speed has a conflict with our chat room. I've been turning off the software for our 9 p.m. ET chat but I'm not sure that's really working. I did find a fix last night but it will take some experimenting for me to figure out how to implement the fix.

The good news is that the chat works on your mobile device. So when you've logged into your Caregiving.com account on your mobile device (smart phone or tablet), you'll still see the chat bar. The conflict only affects you when you visit the site on your desktop.

I'll keep you posted on my progress to fixing this conflict. Again, you can use the chat rooms on your mobile devices, just not when you visit the site on your desktop.

If you blog, you may have noticed error messages when you added images to your post. I figured out the cause of the problem yesterday afternoon and added the solutions. You shouldn't have any problems adding photos but if you do just let me know.

And, thanks so much for your patience on Monday morning as I worked through the glitches caused by the migration. Oh, my. The biggest problem turned out to be that I wasn't connecting to our site on the new server. It was such an odd glitch that I didn't figure it out until early Monday afternoon. I was fixing the glitches Monday morning but they didn't seem to be taking--because they weren't. I finally went to the library on Monday afternoon and connected to the site on the new server through the library's internet access and fixed the glitches.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them in our comments section, below, or by sending me an email.

We just type. :)

We just chat. :) We talk about our days--the good and the bad--like you would with a friend in a phone call. Sometimes, someone has a problem and we'll brainstorm solutions. And, sometimes, we don't talk about caregiving at all but just talk about what we enjoy and love.

I would guess that most folks don't have a clue what a unique skill set you possess. Being able to counsel and listen the way you do is such a gift, in addition to the difficult clinical preparation, not to mention the ability to communicate as a writer as well. That alone would be enough. But the technical ability and computer savvy required to continually tweak this website is an entirely different matter. So glad you share this wealth of talent with us; what a difference you have made in our lives.
