sunset-64256_640As I write this, I am sitting in the vascular surgeon's office waiting for John to be dismissed. Today he had vein mapping in preparation fir a fistula next month. The surgeon warned that he "might have to get creative" before this appointment and I sense that's the case. There is a follow up in two weeks to review optiomns after he gas time to "think about it." Sounds like complications to me. Apparently,  his veins and arteries aren't good.

In my last post, I mentioned I am on vacation this week. It is pure bliss! My job had become quite stressful lately. Partner that with care giving and financial stress from the coverage gap and I was about to have a break. I really need this week. Last night we drove over to the beach at dusk. The sun was going down over the dunes and the waves were splashing. The water was just right and the sand felt so good. I love living here.

For a few years I was a desert rat living in Phoenix while I went to school. I miss Phoenix some times. The best restaurants in the country are in the Valley of the Sun. Good food. It's one of the sacrifices that comes with dialysis. Of all the losses, today I miss good food most. That being said,  I am so grateful for being able to sit here with John while we wait. I would be lost without him.
