In Answer: What’s Your Worst Experience in the Health Care System?

I've mentioned this before but it still just royally ticks me off.

When my grandmother was in the physical therapy portion of the health center (nursing home) recovering from her mini strokes she was suppose to be getting physical therapy twice a week. By the second week there she had seen the physical therapist once and that was when they came in to evaluate her. Thankfully while physically she had some problems mentally there was nothing wrong and she was (and still is) very proactive in her health and asked what she could do while she was sitting in her room watching TV.

In the facility's defense, they were changing out the physical therapy company they were working with because the one that they had was less than satisfactory and when my grandmother told the case worker she was equally upset. The day of the change one of the PT women took Gramma in and jerked around her trigger finger, snapping one of the cords in it and leaving it basically useless.

She did actually get her physical therapy with the new troop and when she demanded to come home they started sending them here to the house. She is doing 100% better though she doesn't seem to think so.

But the issue with her finger back in May is still a problem and though it was reported little could be done. She had been doing exercises and it is getting better but she'll never be back to using it consistently without surgery which she has put her foot down about.

So that's our worst experience with the Health Care System. What's yours?
