In Honor: Tell Us Abour Your Carees Who Served

Denise
Memorial-Day1I often talk about family caregivers holding the family history. Because of the time you spend with your caree, you know the family history--the life stories of your carees and other family members.

You also hold our nation's history. You know the stories of your caree who served our country.

So, today, in honor of Memorial Day, please tell us about your caree and his or her service. (And, please tell us about members of your family currently serving in the military.)

Many thanks to the men and women (and their families) who serve.

Hi--My dad served as a cryptographer during the Korean War, encoding and decoding messages for the Atomic Energy Commission. He was stationed on an island in the South Pacific and witnessed the first successful test of a hydrogen bomb. (His cancer diagnosis is related to his exposure to radiation from the test.)\r\n\r\nHis favorite story is trying to eat dinner outside as a typhoon approached the island. He finished his main course but his pumpkin pie blew away.
