Join our Caregiving Cruise: November 11-15, 2013

CruiseChris (@thpurplejacket) had a great idea last fall: Let's get together for a caregiving cruise.

So, he's been working hard these past few months to make it happen. And, it's happening!

Join Chris and I as we set sail on November 11 for a four-day cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Sky. We leave from Miami and then head for three stops in the Bahamas before returning to Miami.

This cruise is for both members of Caregiving.com and AfterGiving.com. AfterGiving.com helps you begin again when caregiving ends.

Our cruise will be a get-away that includes support for you on your caregiving journey. Not only will we enjoy a break at sea but we'll gather each morning we're sailing for a one-hour workshop, including a Three-Word Journaling class led by me. On our first night together, we'll meet for a one-hour cocktail party.

In addition to special pricing for our cruise, Caregiving.com members also will receive a $25 onboard credit which can be used toward excursions, drinks and gift shop purchases. The cost of the four-day cruise, which includes your accommodations, meals and our workshops, begins at $345 per person for an oceanview stateroom. A deposit of $250 per person is due at time of booking. You can pay the remaining balance in installments, with final payment due on September 1, 2013. You can book your caregiving cruise vacation here.

If you’d like, please feel free to bring your caree on our cruise. Our travel agent (Gerard Desmarais Cruises Inc.) can assist with your special needs.

Traveling alone? No worries! Our travel agent can find you a roommate. Or, consider rooming with another member of Caregiving.com who has become a good friend.

Our travel agent also can help arrange your airfare and transportation to our cruise.

Please feel free to talk about the cruise in our Caregiving Cruise group. We’ll also share updates and details on what we’re doing to make this cruise one to remember.

Hi Annie--Yesterday, I had the thought: I need to publicize our cruise on AfterGiving, which is our site for those who begin again after caregiving ends.\r\n\r\nSo, my short answer is YES! We'd love you to join us. \r\n\r\nI'm so glad you've joined us here. AfterGiving.com is also a resource for you. Although the site is smaller, it's growing and it could be a nice place for you to talk about your grief and your transitions. I'd love for you to blog there. If you're up for it, just let me know. :)

I so hope you both can join us, Pegi. It would be wonderful to cruise with you. :)

Hi Beverly--We'd love for you to join us! This is our first cruise so we're not offering any respite simply because we want to make sure we know what we're doing. :) \r\n\r\nCan you tell more about your situation? I can recommend ideas for respite for your caree at home so you can take a break.\r\n\r\nAnd, please join us here. :) After joining, you can participate in our support groups, our weekly chats and connect with our other members.
