Just One of Those Moments

Just One of Those Moments

ItalyIt is 8 a.m. Hubby and I are still lounging in bed. (One of the perks of being semi-retired.) The phone rings, it is our daughter. As is her new custom, she is calling us on her commute to work.

Today there is such excitement in her voice. She has just returned from her first business trip to Europe. She was in Italy for five days visiting a distillery whose product her company represents in the United States. She went on and on about the country, the food, the restaurants, the scenery. She spent most of her free time in Venice and couldn't say enough about the town, the people and the architecture. She sounded so enthused, so revitalized!

We have never had the opportunity to travel but my parents did. After I hung up the phone it hit me. Just one of those moments....how my mother would have loved to hear about her granddaughter traveling to Italy. I could see in my mind's eye the look of happiness that would have been on her face as she listened. How proud she would have been. It brought tears to my eyes. I wish she could have been alive to enjoy that moment. I wish she could have been alive so I could have shared that moment with my mother and my daughter.

Oh, TDM, that is a rough moment. There's nothing like the physical act of being able to call the one you love with good news. \r\n\r\nI hope knowing how proud your mom is of you and your daughter helps.
