Let the Sunshine In!

Let the Sunshine In!

sunshine-and-flowerBoy, we have had a gloomy three weeks here in Georgia! Today we FINALLY have the sun!

It certainly makes a difference when the sun is shining, doesn't it? Maybe it is the sun, or maybe it is my husband letting me "sleep in" this morning, or maybe the antidepressants are really really kicking in, but today is a good day!

I have to say that I think the antidepressants have made me feel more even. I do not have the lows and the worries that were getting me down. I never thought I would be a person who took them, but I am glad I decided to give them a try. I fought them for a long time, thinking "I am strong, I can get over this." It seemed the "blues" kept coming around.

I spoke to some friends here and asked if they were taking them and they graciously shared their stories. That is when I decided maybe I just needed a boost over the hump and I should give it a try.

I am glad I did, it has seemed to really make a difference. I am writing this so anyone who might be on the fence and feeling like I did, has another point of reference to make their own, personal, decision.

To me, knowledge is power. Sometimes people hesitate to discuss these types of things, but if my experience can help just one person's journey I am willing to share my stories. There is no weakness in keeping your head above water.

Thanks for sharing this, Sharon. There is so much negative and mis-information about anti-depressants. Whenever I hear someone say on TV to \"pop a prozac\" as if it will instantly fix a bad mood -- it makes me cringe. I often think people look at antidepressants as mood altering drugs, like alcohol or Xanax. They actually won't do much of anything for someone who isn't depressed. I'm glad you are getting some relief from your medication!
