Much Gratitude for a Remarkable 36-Hour Chat

0
christmas-935450_640We opened our chat for 36 hours over Christmas to ensure anyone who cares or cared for a family member or friend had a place to receive comfort and support.

It was a remarkable experience.

Our members from the UK (@elizabeth and @zkidookreativ) joined us as well as a guest from Malaysia who cares for both parents. We loved connecting with members who joined during our chat: @roxie @patti @mikeyacone and @carlab. We had one particularly special moment as we connected with and did our best to comfort one of our guests caring for her dying mom.

Our wonderful volunteers kept the chat room lively and inviting and lots of fun: @sara32742 (who kept the lights on over both nights) @lillie @roaringmouse @shoog @hussy @jvnewell @zkidookreativ @lisarae and @kreisler. I can't remember when I've laughed so much and so hard. I spent hours in the chat but today it feels like minutes. It was amazing.

Thanks so much to all our members and visitors who joined us. It was wonderful to see each of you.

Next year, we'll hold the chat from Noon on Christmas Eve through 12:01 a.m. ET on December 26. We're already planning a second 36-hour chat which will double as a fundraiser. I'll keep you posted.

What was your experience in our chat? What were your favorite moments? What suggestions do you have? Please share your feedback in our comments section, below.

Denise, it was an amazing 36 hour chat! I cried, then I laughed til I cried! This chat was a gift to me at Christmas. Sure, I had family over on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and it was wonderful but the really wonderful part was meeting people who needed someplace to vent, those other caregivers who know what it feels like to walk in my shoes. This was an experience I will not too soon forget! It was a blessing. Thank you!

The 36 hour chat was awesome! I dropped in whenever I could and visited with my cg.com family. So many people live such an isolated life of caregiving, It is so nice to know that they can connect online and feel like someone cares. I hope many of the \"guests\" come back, register, and chat again soon.
