A photo, they say, is worth a thousand words.

On the first day of every month, we share a photo of our caregiving day. Since we started our First Photo Project in September of 2014, members have posted photos of equipment, of carees, of a masked family caregiver at dialysis, of the morning shave, of a caree folding laundry.

In the next few days, take a photo during your day. Your photo can show what’s mundane or what’s meaningful about your day. The project is about capturing caregiving as a moment in time. A combination of moments will tell a story. I've added a photo of my dad on Christmas Day. My niece and I enjoyed a light lunch on Christmas with my parents at their apartment. My niece brought English crackers which is why my dad is wearing a paper crown. He's also wearing the new sweater given to him by my brother in Christmas Eve.

Once you take your photo, share it and a description, if you’d like, in the First Photo Project group. (Note: You must be a member of Caregiving.com to post in our groups.) After taking your photo, please plan to join us for a virtual chat to discuss our photos. On the first Thursday of every month at 2 p.m. ET, we’ll now gather virtually for 30 minutes to talk about the photos we take and the meaning behind them. You can RSVP to join us, below.

I look forward to seeing your stories.
