Podcast: Disaster Preparedness and Dementia

Denise
Claire E. Day, Chief Program Officer, Alzheimer's Association Northern California and Northern Nevada Chapter, joined me on Tuesday to share information to help you prepare for a disaster when you care for a family member with dementia. You can listen to our show via the player, below.

During our podcast, I mentioned a book we read when we had a Caregiving Book Club but couldn't remember the title. The highly-recommend book is The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes—And Why by Amanda Ripley. The book describes our personalities in a disaster. Understanding our disaster personality (will we freeze? take action? be a hero?) helps us prepare now before a disaster strikes. The book is best when sharing tips that will help us get out.

What tips would you add to our discussion about preparing for a disaster? Please share in our comments section, below.
