Tell Us: Have You or Your Caree Been Victimized During Caregiving?

@jmkeslin sent me a link to an article which I read yours ago but can't still can't process because of how unsettling awful it is.

How the Elderly Lose Their Rights tells the stories of older adults who become wards of the court without their knowledge or approval. As wards of the court, a guardian is appointed, who then takes control of the older adults' assets. The family members of the older adults are intentionally shut out of the process during which the older adults lose their assets, including their houses.

It's a horrifying article about victimizing the vulnerable and frail.

The more we know about these kinds of situations the better we can protect ourselves. Let's talk about any experiences you've had where either you or your caree have been targeted. Have you or your caree been the victims of a scam or crime or a conniving family member during caregiving? Please share any experiences you've had in our comments section, below.

Phi, and I are still trying to process that article... so disturbing. Luckily I don't remember any abuse situations (just incompetence) but I hear from our local domestic abuse center that the uptick in elderly admissions at the shelter has markedly increased.
