Tell Us: What’s Today’s Caregiving Stress (Day 2)?

Denise
hand-1013521_640As you may know, I’ve been collecting data about your caregiving stress, the overlooked epidemic in our communities. During a recent webinar, The Family Caregiver’s Stress, I shared the current results of our ongoing survey and share thoughts about what’s needed to minimize the stress.

We know that caregiving stress can be ongoing. I also believe that caregiver stress is constantly changing, that what stresses you on Monday is replaced by a different stressful situation on Tuesday. To show the constant and changing face of caregiving stress, I’d love for you to tell us about each day’s caregiving stress over a period of five days. Your stories about your day’s caregiving stress will make our data about your caregiving stress that much more compelling.

In our comments section, below, tell us about the stress you’re feeling today.

Thank you for sharing this, Karen. The stress must be awful. My great friend has early-onset Alzheimer's. She thinks her home is a hotel. Your post helped me understand how difficult it is for her husband and the grief he is experiencing at the loss of the wife he once knew.\r\n\r\nMore blessings (we all need plenty!).

My stress today is that I don't feel good, suffering with \"sinus pain\", I just want to lay down and rest but I still have to care for my mom.

I am so sorry.\r\n\r\nBlessings to you, your husband and family.

Today was financial stress day: juggling the figures to try to find the money to fix the car. Not only is there loss of income, but care giving also just chews up money.\r\n\r\nToo tired to sort it out.

Today's overdue conversation with DH about it being time for him to give up driving.
