The Lilies of the Nile

Michelle

LILIES OF THE NILE

It must be the middle of summer
The lilies of the Nile are in bloom
Standing up strait on their reed-like stalks
Beneath the window of my bedroom

It must be the middle of summer
The Nile Lilies are showing their hue
A soft periwinkle,
They’re a light brush of purple
And a little bit blue
I am too.
