Yesterday I saw this image on Facebook, posted by our former hospice nurse.

I'm not sure all prisons are quite as good as this implies, and but I've seen some really BAD nursing homes and a couple of good ones. Even the good ones left much to be desired.

But lately the Sheriff of our county is constantly talking about how much medical costs there are associated with the jail. He has people getting dialysis, AIDs treatment, diabetic inmates, and lots with mental illnesses the require psych meds and regular psychiatric care. And some have even committed minor crimes so they can get medical care. Seems things are upside down.

Here in Arizona we seem to take pride in making our prisons into near-hellholes. (Think canvas tents in Phoenix in summer with no AC.)\r\nMost of the rehab centers and care homes I've been inside here, are places I wouldn't board my dog, much less my Grandma. It's never a good sign when you walk in the door and your first impressions are the smell of urine overlaid with carbolic, and the sounds of muffled weeping.
