imagesSaturday: Regular care’s today. We got an emergency supply of Mom’s Charlie horse pills with the help of her MCO.

Sunday: Regular cares today. Homemade Chili today and we started learning a new game, Mille Bornes.

Monday: Dialysis and chiropractor today. Doctor at dialysis today. We received our final instructions for the Fistulagram on Thursday. Overall good report from the nephrologist. Doctor completed form for prior authorization on Mom's med that we had problems with on Friday. MCO informed me they will pay for extra trip to pharmacy on Saturday and give me some extra hours for all of this.

Tuesday: Woke up to an air temperature of -11F and wind chill of -23F. Endocrinologist today. Okay report from the endocrinologist but some tweaking of meds were needed which is common as things progress and also with the complications of dialysis on removing meds. Received a call from the regional manager for the pharmacy after I called their corproate customer service number on Friday about the troubles at the pharmacy (See my post, A Very Frustrating Couple of Days!) on Friday. He is going to investigate and talk to the manager at the individual pharmacy to have this corrected.

Wednesday: Air temperature of 8 F and wind chill -10 F on waking up. Dialysis today. Received call for pre-admittance for tomorrow for her fistulagram but they called at the most inopportune time. Can they not read a patients schedule! They called just as the nurse was coming out to get Mom to take her back for her dialysis treatment and wanted to talk to Mom. Attended online seminar from AAKP (American Association of Kidney Patients) titled “New Year, New You! Learn How to Take Charge of Your Health”

Thursday: On getting up air temperature was -10 F and wind chill was -30 F. Mom’s fistulagram today. I dropped Mom off at the door and went and parked the car. I had to walk about a block into the hospital. Boy was I cold when I got in and it took me about a 1/2 hour to warm up. The following stopped by in the "I'm in the Hospital" chat room to talk with me: Richard (@kreisler), Denise (@denise), and Pegi (@worriedwife) and I would like to thank them for helping the time go by.

Will need to stay with Mom until her dialysis treatment tomorrow as they gave her a sedative and it will not be out of her system until after dialysis. Received a voice mail when we got out of the hospital that the insurance company has approved her medication and we will be able to pick it up with our regular pharmacy order on Friday.

They found that Mom had two narrowings of her fistula and used the balloon to open them up. We also found out that this is a normal occurrence and in most people happens every three to six months and it has been a year and a half since she started dialysis with her fistula and a almost two years since she received her fistula.
