Update of 12/25/13

nativity_sceneThursday: Slept in and did some shopping today.

Friday: Chiropractor and dialysis today. Laundry this evening.

Saturday" Regular cares. Mom, my friend and I all took a long nap in the afternoon.

Sunday: Mom woke up during the night scratching her leg and it was bleeding. It was a small spot so I put a band aid on it and we went back to bed by morning there was a rash forming. Dialysis today because of change for the Christmas holiday closure. Had dialysis nurse look at her leg and they advised to call clinic first thing Monday morning and have her seen by her PCP. Had to set up with my friend to be a half hour late with his cares so I could take mom to dialysis.

Monday: 8:00 a.m. called clinic and told to bring her right in when they looked at the notes from dialysis. When we got to the doctors office and took off the dressing that the dialysis center had put on and told me to leave on until we took her in, it was draining. They do not believe that it is infected and are listing it as an edema of unknown origin. They have given me a wrap system to use on it and a list of needed supplies. I contacted her CMO so we can get the supplies and were sent to the local DME supply to pick them up. I now have to change the wraps two times a day until it stops draining and then daily until healed. If it starts getting worse bring her back in and have dialysis check it also every time she comes in. Also received a call from the pharmacy that her binder prescription was in and went and picked it up.

Tuesday: Dialysis today. Started her new binder today. Went from dialysis to church for Christmas Eve Mass.

Wednesday: Merry Christmas! Cares for mom and my friend today as the regular weekday care company for my friend will not do holidays. We had Christmas dinner with my friend in the community room for residence, family, friends and care providers. I again helped with this. We had ham (made some chicken for Mom as she can not have the salt of the ham), garlic, onion, horseradish mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, dinner rolls, salads and cookies. After dinner we exchanged presents and had some time of fellowship.

Merry Christmas, Larry! Your Christmas sounds wonderful.\r\n\r\nWhat happened with Mom during the night is similar to what happened with @kreisler, who also was diagnosed with edema. It's so odd how these things start so innocently and then bam!, they're not.\r\n\r\nWishing you and your mom and your friend a very lovely weekend. :)

A belated Merry Christmas, Larry! The fellowship sounds wonderful. I, too, hope the edema clears up soon. Am very glad you all got that long Saturday nap.
