11205991_890798140961275_7164510505304261327_nThursday was regular cares for clients. I found out that neighbor can fix car for substantially less and even less if I help. I scheduled to work on this tomorrow afternoon with him. Received call from rehab center that Mom is scheduled for a fistula-gram tomorrow morning instead of dialysis and then dialysis in the afternoon. Mom’s potassium level came back and it is still high but is dropping. Got parts for the car. Social worker from rehab center called she had sent in paperwork to state to correct my address problem.

On Friday, I met Mom at hospital for fistula-gram. I xxplained to her that I would not be able to make it to dialysis this afternoon as I had an appointment set for the car before the rehab center called about the change. She was disappointed but understood and wanted me to do what I could to get the car fixed. Neighbor and I worked on the car until it got too dark to keep working on car. Laundry was put off till Saturday evening.

On Saturday, I had regular cares for clients. Went and help finish up car. Laundry was done this evening. Also through the help of a friend (he gave me his old cell phone) I was able to get a cell phone going for mom under the safe-link program that gives her 300 free minutes per month and additional minutes can be purchased--100 for $10. The safe-link program is a state-run program funded by federal, state and telecom industry money. The free minutes expire after one month but another 300 are put on but the purchased minutes do not expire. The free minutes are used first then the purchased minutes. She will be able to make calls but receiving calls is kind of hard as she is unable to use the phone during any therapy, activity, appointment or during transportation due to rehab center policy. Also all charging of it must be done at the nurses’ station and not in the room due to plug-in restrictions from the accrediting association.

Sunday was Mother’s day. Regular cares today. Went to see Mom at rehab center. She was crying when I got there thinking I was not going to be able to come because she did not know I had the car fixed. She was excited about the phone. Went to corner café (a small store and cafeteria type area at the rehab center) and I bought her a root beer float. Due to missing her therapy on Friday due to her appointments one of the therapy staff came in on Sunday for a short session with mom. (See photo.) Sorry for the quality but the therapy room is floor to ceiling windows so I could only get silhouetted photo.

I'm so glad you could spend Mother's Day with your mom! And, thank goodness for the neighbor. What an angel!!\r\n\r\nAny word from MCO on the address snafu? I'm so hoping they've fixed this for you.
