Validation

Gold Star.svg.medI look after my husband for two reasons: Because I love him and because I can. Pretty simple it seems. I don't do it for recognition, money, medals, hero cookies or even gold stars. However, there are days were simple validation would be nice. Is that too much to ask? I usually get validation from him through a simple 'Thanks' or a smile and a squeeze of the hand. I'm all for hugs to, just a simple reminder that what I do and who I am matters.

I think a lot of times we forget to validate others. When was the last time you had someone smile at you or smiled at someone for no reason at all, other than to let you know they were seen? I don't mean one of those forced smiles where it looks more like a grimace or a creepy leer, I mean a true look someone in the eyes and smile. Bet it's been awhile. Often times we may think this journey we are on is pretty damn lonely and that no one understands, but I think that if we took the time to validate ourselves and others we would see the world around us and what it has to offer.
