A Caregiving Comfort: Vote

0

If only we could vote on what we want in our life. With a vote, we could decide what stays and what goes. We could vote out what we don't want and what creates too much difficulty.

For instance, we could vote out winter when the temperatures drop and the snow piles up. We could vote out too much traffic when we're delayed in getting to our appointments. We could vote out a no-help sibling from joining a family function so we have a better time.

Wait.

This voting idea seems somewhat judgmental. Do we really want to rid ourselves of winter, which does so much to keep our world in good shape? If we eliminate traffic, we'll find our roads to be really lonely. A family function without a sibling who drives us nuts sounds great for us but perhaps that's a heart-breaking occasion for our loved one who wants the family to remain whole.

I suppose the vote works best when we just cast votes for ourselves and let Karma take care of the other votes.

Let's cast votes that keep us in good shape, that give us good company, that protect what matters to us. We can vote every day when we use our priorities and values to determine how we spend our time. When we vote to use our time well, we win.
