Weekend Update

Michael
clock-70182_640Friday night. Summer has arrived in Savannah. The humidity is already oppressive but I do so love it here. Sometimes I wonder though, was Savannah a wise choice?

For those who may read and not know our story,  my partner is doing peritoneal dialysis and waiting on a kidney and pancreas transplant. Our transplant center is four hours away in Atlanta. I question the quality of local medical care. I do not however, question the quality of the transplant center. When the transplant comes, how will we manage the appointments in Atlanta for follow up?

Time has flown by...and yet the time drags. It feels like we get a new challenge about every six months. My last post talked about our battle to conquer phosphorus. Well, the bad news is John is going to probably have to go back on hemo. The good news is at least it is still at home. He'll be scheduled for a fistula soon. "Another scar," he says. And I just worry - for him, for us and yes, for me.

Hi Michael--I hope you both are enjoying R&R as I write this. \r\n\r\nI understand the worry about the distance. A good location isn't only critical in real estate--it's imperative in health care.\r\n\r\nWhen do you think John will start hemo?\r\n\r\nAnd, how did your trip to DC go? How did John do while you were gone?
